▲ Auf dem Bogenrand befinden sich eine Farbleiste 1A 1A 1A 1A, die zur Kontrolle der automatischen Farbzuführung beim synchronen Mehrfarbendruck dient, und das Druckereizeichen von ENSCHEDÉ sowie Inschriften zum Ausgabethema.
Diese Marke zeigt das Sternbild „Jungfrau” (Virgo) sowie eine einheimische junge Frau in moderner Karabach-Nationaltracht (gestaltet von Gayane Petrosian).
Anders als in der Antike steht die Sonne heutzutage vom 9. September bis zum 30. Oktober in diesem Sternbild. Der hellste Stern der „Jungfrau” ist die 272 Lichtjahre entfernte Spica (α Virginis). Im Sternbild sollte sie eigentlich die Kornähre (lat. Spica) in der Hand der Jungfrau sein. Auf dieser Briefmarke liegt Spica als gelber Punkt mittig am unteren Saum des Kleides.

This postage stamp, part of the EUROPA series, shows the constellation of Virgo and a young Artsakh woman dressed in a modern local costume of the famous designer Gayane Petrosian.
Different from antique times, today our sun runs through Virgo from 9 September to 30 October. The brightest star of Virgo is Spica (α Virginis). It is 272 light years distant from Earth. Within that constellation, actually Spica should symbolize a corn ear (lat. Spica) in the hand of the virgin. On this postage stamp, Spica is a yellow spot centered at the bottom hem of the skirt.
